Kaitlin Spurlock grew up in the heart of Virginia’s horse country going on long pony rides through the woods with her mom enforcing only one rule: rider and pony must come home together! These informal beginnings belied the greater lessons in horsemanship Kaitlin received at this young age. Her parents, both equine vets, instilled in her a deep appreciation for all aspects of horse care that she carries with her today. Kaitlin was also an active member of Loudoun Hunt Pony Club throughout her childhood, eventually obtaining her ‘B’ rating.
Her passion for horses eventually settled on the sport of eventing where she was exposed to all aspects of the sport from competing at the top level to breeding, breaking, and producing top prospects. In 2012, Kaitlin graduated with honors from the University of Virginia. She also took every opportunity to expand her education as a rider and horseman. Kaitlin has held working student positions with eventing greats Phyllis Dawson and Phillip Dutton. She spent time riding for FEI ‘O’ judge Linda Zang and spent several years galloping racehorses at the Montpeller training center. Additionaly, in 2014 Kaitlin started Steplin Sporthorses with fellow professional Melissa Hunsburger with the goal of producing quality young horses for competition and sales.
Kaitlin has had much success competing at the Advanced and Three-Star level and is currently producing and competing a string of exciting young horses out of her base in West Grove, PA and winter base in Aiken, SC.
Kaitlin is available for training, sales, competing and clinics.
